The Success brand of Malayalam after Superstars ,Sathyan Anthikadu had been successful Enough to establish pool of viewers last twenty years , with his style of soft, emotional, but lively story telling. The director whos specializes is telling the ironic narratives about middle class woes and worries is back with another movie titled ‘Kadha Thudarum’
A sensitive tale, the story begins with the beautiful and glowing lady Vidya (mamta) to whom life is a perfect tale. She has a darling husband Shanavas (asif) along with an adorable daughter Laya (anikha). The story takes a turn when Shanavas goes out in a rainy night to get some fruits and never returns. Despite several attempts, nothing is heard about him and Vidya, Laya are left helpless to a situation where they are driven out of the house by the landlord. In comes Preman (jayaram) who develops a soft corner for Vidya. What happens from there forms the rest of the story
The director has come up with a sensitive storyline and he has packed it with neat presentation and good narrative. The dialogues were deep, the script was neat and the screenplay was nice. Background score was good but only one song is effective. Cinematography captured few moments well. Editing was crisp. Jayaram gave a composed performance and scored well, Mamta has evolved as an actress and she proves her mettle again. The real showstealer is the child artist Anikha who gripped the hearts of the audience. Asif was average, Mamukoyya was hilarious, Lekshmipriya was amazing, the others did their bit as required.
The film marks the comeback of a truly talented movie maker and he has handled the script deftly. While the first half goes in a smooth way, it tends to take turns before the interval. The second half has got its twisted moments and few touching scenes as well. Overall, this is a film for sensitive audience as the entertainment quotient is low and the realism is quite high. Commercially, the film might work among the family and urban audiences so it could be an average grosser. But such quality films are rare so one can view it
Verdict: Good
