Rafi-Mecartin, who is known for directing comedy entertainers like Thenkashipatanam, Hallo, Chathitha Chanthu, has 3 comedy kings- Mohanlal, Jayaram, Dileep uniting in China Town. What would everyone expect is unlimited fun and the team has successfully achieved the goal.

Story: It is a simple revenge story with Mathookutti(Mohanlal), Zakkariya(Jayaram) and Binoy(Dileep) returning to Goa to avenge the death of their parents. Even though the basic plot looks serious, it is filled with humor throughout to please the family audiences and some action sequences in between for the youth fans.

The first half is absolutely a cracker with the combination scenes of Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep and there is never a dull moment. Post-interval, it loses the grip and goes out of control with ‘Handover’ inspired episode but Rafi-Mecartin still keeps the entertainment factor in place to keep the viewers interested.

The comedy kings gets equal importance though heroism and action part goes to Mohanlal. Dileep looks to be in full-form in first half but his drunkard act went overboard at times. Jayaram handled the comedy part better while Mohanlal’s dance movements were in full-flow and looked completely energetic throughout. Suraj almost plays the fourth hero and was able to evoke laughter with some funny one-liners but still his monotonous act is getting bored. The female leads do not get much of an importance and were restricted to appear in song sequences.

Rafi-Mecartin was able to given equal importance to Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep but with this deadly team in their hands, they could have done a much better job as there are many loopholes here and there. Still they have given what everyone expect from them- “slapstick comedy” which is there in plenty. Jassie Gift’s songs perfectly match the mood and add to the energy levels set by others.

On the whole, Chinna Town is a perfect entertainer for the vacation audience to chill out in theaters.

Verdict:Enjoyable
