Swapna Sanchari -Review

There are some filmmakers who are burdened with huge expectations from fans. Director Kamal is one such filmmaker because his latest Malayalam movie, Swapana Sancahri; The one who came marks the reunion with his one time favorites jayaram in the lead.
The base thread of the movie has all colours and tones that could be translated into a hit. But a tighter screenplay and a deft handling of some sequences, at least towards the climax, could have done that trick which is sadly missing in the present outcome.
In fact, only a Malayalee can understand the movie. Jayaram plays the role of Ajayachandran who is a Gulf returnee. Someone who dreams big and a big show off too. Samvrutha as Rashmi plays Ajayachandran’s wife. The story in one line would be ‘forgetting one’s roots can make you repent’.
Along with Ajayachandran and Rashmi there are a few other characters with equal importance in the story line. Like the father’s role played by Innocent, the shady character of Harisree Ashokan, the good friend Salim Kumar, Astrologer Jagathy to name a few. Jayaram has done a commendable work as well as all the others.
The script, dialogues and casting are all just right. The music by M Jayachandran is in tune with the soul of the movie. Azhakappan’s camera work is awesome and Kamal has made a not-so-fresh-story very refreshing. And not to forget, the movie gives you some very light moments too.
Altogether, Swapna Sanchari's chances in the Box office seem to be quite dull. If marketed well, this may prove to be an average earner.
Verdict:Above Average
