Director Joshi’s Robin hood   is an action thriller that has been shot very stylistically and presented in a sleek way with the use of fast editing and suitable background music. But the movie doesn’t have a story that can keep a viewer glued for its entire duration.

The story Revolve around of Venkitesh Iyer alias Venky (Prithviraj), who teaches physics in a coaching centre by the day and robs ATM’s by night. His kind of thieving is rather hi-tech; he gets everything pertaining to accounts in a particular bank, the IBI bank, and that includes the 16-digit code on ATM cards and the secret PIN code too. And then he makes fake ATM cards using mobile recharge coupons. The police, led by a young ACP (Jayasurya), are investigating the case, Despite several attempts, the bank is unable to nab him and so they decide to bring in the flirtatious private investigator Alexander (Narein) to catch hold of the culprit. On the other hand, there is a romance track with the beautiful lady lecturer (bhavana) falling in love with Venkey and hot on his heels is also the ACP Harris (jayasuriya) who is unable to catch him. Why does Venkatesh become a thief? What does he do with the money? All this forms the rest of the story.

The director  Joshi has come up with a known tale and though the presentation was stylish, It’s really a surprise and something worth appreciation too that Joshiy has managed to change with the times and retain his sway on the box office too. The script by Sachi –Sethu’s was not convincing for the plot, which made for a thriller. Rajamani’s background score suits the mood and the tempo of the film. Cinematography by Shaji and editing by Ranjan Abraham is apt for the flick.

Not brain-dead and certainly not a dull moment in sight, Robin hood flicks the essence of the Bollywood speed thriller -- style and shrieking sounds -- and turns it to its own advantage.Prithvi Raj looks dashing and fits the role of a clever robber thief. Naren  chips in some light moments in this otherwise gritty fare with his ‘tongue-in-cheek’ humor. Jayasurya needs to master a few emotive expressions other than his usual brooding. On the whole the movie is Above Average.

Verdict: Above Average
