“Pappy Appacha” is directed by Mammas. It is another picture of shrewd and notorious father son duo played by Dileep and Incent. There had been many films depicting the father-son combos in Malayalam. They have built up a business world consisting of hospital, school, bar and many institutions
The story begins on the backdrop of the Ithirikkandam village and here live the father- son duo of Nirappel Mathai (innocent) and Pappy (dileep). Both are the richest people of the village and though they don't have that brains, they control many aspects. Pappy is in deep love with his childhood friend Annie (kavya) who is a school teacher at one of their schools. However, she does not like the duo since they have money as their priority. Trouble begins with the arrival of Sashankan Muthallai (Ashokan) and Maanikunju (Suresh Krissna) who separate the father- son duo. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Dileep and his mannerisms are given more importance rather than the story. There are comedy scenes that one finds it very hard to digest. Dileep’s role as a son, and hero is quite impressive but his unnecessary jokes and gestures makes it a bit boring. Kavya’s role as a school teacher is outstanding. But this time their chemistry hasn’t clicked well. Suresh Krishna and Asokan did a good job as villains. Music is directed by Vidyasagar and the movie by Mammas. The movie is to attract mainly children with the comedy and Dileep’s mannerisms. But as far as adults are concerned, it may be hard to digest.
The director has come up with a routine tale but then the presentation was good added with a neat narrative. The dialogues were witty at few places, the script was normal but the screenplay was effective. Background score was alright but two songs were worth taking home. Cinematography was impressive. Costumes made their presence felt and art department was apt.
Though the film runs on a beaten track, it has got its own merits. While the first half breezes off with passable humor, it is the second half that takes a blow due to slow scenes and unwanted melodrama. Overall, the film is for those who look for some good fun without much thinking. The film will do well if the word of mouth publicity goes well for it. Given the moments of humor involved in it, the film has the potential to entertain the audience.| Send your Feedback & Comments about the Website to the webmaster. |
