Mammootty's latest movie Best Actor which was earlier titled 'Oru Cinemakatha' will mark the debut of Kannada actress Sruthi Ramakrishan in Malayalam  as a heroine. Best Actor is the first directorial venture by Martin Prakkat and is produced by Naushad under the banner of Big screen entertainments.

Mohan is a U.P. school teacher. Known to be a popular teacher of the school and good in taking classes, he was also a good family man giving adequate care to his family consisting of his son Unnikuttan and his wife Savithri, who is also a music teacher. But the only secret desire which often takes the sleep out of Mohan was his intense interest to become a movie actor. He had been the most active person in the local amateur drama circles, who motivated his students to perform better in the school youth festivals.

Though Mohan had considered nothing as better to his family circles, his acting interests have forced him to reach for the tinsel town. In a moment of indecisiveness, Mohan drops his job and leaves his family for making a big name in cinema. With no big acquaintances in the movie field and no big connections, how can Mohan accomplish his desires to become a movie actor?

Best Actor Directed by Martin Prakatt, starring Mammootty in the lead. The movie will mark the debut of photographer turned director Martin Prakatt. It is produced by Naushad and Anto Joseph in the banner of Big Screen.Renowned Kannada actress Shruthi Ramakrishnan is the heroine of Mammootty in Best Actor. She will be seen as music teacher Savithri, wife of Mohan (Mammootty).  The film also stars Master Vivas, Lal, Nedumudi Venu, K. P. A. C. Lalitha and Sukumari in other major roles. The camera has been handled by Ajay Vincent, Bijibal is composing the music and Don Max is the editor of the movie.  The movie is expected to release by 5 Decemberr 2010
