
Yenthiran leads by a mile

The top 5 movies this week shows that one among them has emerged a big winner, clearing the others by Yards. Yes, Yenthiran the Rajanikanth starrer is collecting like anything and is now termed as one of the biggest grosser. The top five Malayalam films are:
1."Yenthiran" - Following the trends of every other parts of the country, Rajanikanth starrer ' Yenthiran' opened with thundering responses from all over the state.The movie made to 130 screens on the first day. Endhiran - Robo reviews have taken the Indian cinema by storm and have crossed Rs. 100 crores collections worldwide on the first day – A phenomenal record for and a stupendous effort. Putting aside Robo movie budget of 160 crores, Endhiran Robot collections will easily break even in the first week itself. What’s even important is that all the exhibitors and buyers will definitely be in the profit zone.
2.‘Elsamma Enna Aankutty’ - Within three weeks from its release, this laljose movie has slowly managed to grab the top position. The movie seems to have stricken a chord with the families and the lady viewers with its realistic content. The movie which opened to average collections, picked up after the initial good word of mouth and aggressive marketing strategies from Lal Creations-the distributors of the film. And for the first time in a couple of years, this movie has become the only hit with no big names to its credit.
3.‘Shikkar’ - The film manages forty percent in major centres, even though half of the release centres have shifted it. Chances for becoming a break even are there, if it survives another three weeks in major centres.The movie has got greater collections in the northern regions and in some centers the movie's first week collections was in par with that of some of our Blockbuster films. But in the South, the movie got a Average response even after aggressive marketing from its distributor, Anthony Permbavoor.
4. ‘Pranchiyetten And teh Saint’ - Mammootty's latest hit 'Pranchiyetten And teh Saint' is in its 30 day. The movie continues to bring in viewers in around 20 release centers, of which 14 are regular shows. The movie has got strong collections in majority of the metro stations. The movie is said to have brought in 1.75 crores distributor share from its Four weeks run, a pretty good figure for such social satire film which was completed in a low budget of 1.90 crores.
5. ‘Vande Matharam’ – Mammootty's latest Bilungal‘Vande Mathram’ has taken a lame start and is not expected to make any surprises at the box office. But the movie by Aravind may continue in theatres at least till the arrival of Major flicks. All chances are that this will become a losing proportion for Time Ads release.
